Children sometimes struggle.
Children today face a wide range of challenges, such as anxiety and depression, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, social and emotional difficulties, behavioral issues, ADHD and other learning challenges, family conflict, bullying, and self-esteem issues.
I believe in supporting young people on their journey of growth and self-discovery. While working with children, I offer a safe and friendly space where children can explore their feelings, learn new skills, and build resilience.
I have many years of experience working with children of all ages and backgrounds. My priority is building a strong and trusting relationship with each child.
Here’s how child therapy works.
Every child is unique, so my approach is tailored to meet their needs. We use various therapy methods, including play therapy for younger children, a powerful way to express emotions and work through challenges.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps children understand how their thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected and teach them how to identify and change negative thought patterns, often leading to behavior improvements.
For younger children, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) focuses on improving the parent-child relationship and teaching parents practical parenting skills with children struggling with behavioral and/or emotional issues.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialized trauma therapy that helps children process distressing memories and reduce their emotional impact. Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) emphasizes the child’s inner wisdom and allows them to explore their feelings and experiences at their own pace.
Help your child overcome struggles.
Some kids need an outside person to act as their sounding board, while others do well with a more structured approach. Many children thrive in therapy when play is involved. In any case, I build rapport with kids so that they feel safe and secure, and I tailor my approach to each child.
In addition to addressing the individual presenting problems to kids, I help them create a “toolbox” of coping skills and ways to reframe situations. I help kids learn how the skills that help them now will continue to benefit them until they are 99.
